How the Grinch Stole Cloud
I wrote and directed an internal holiday video that turned the classic Grinch story into one about cloud computing. While I can’t share the actual video, here are some snippets of the script.
Every Dev in Devtown Liked Cloud quite a lot
But the Grinch, Who lived just north of Devtown, did NOT!
The Grinch hated Cloud! He preferred on-prem stacks!
We’re not quite sure why. No one dare even ask.
…
The more he thought of the innovations Cloud surely would bring,
The more Grinch thought, "I must stop this whole thing!"
"Why, for 10 years I've put up with it now!"
"I MUST remove Cloud from running! But HOW?"
…
Down below, smartphone users were beyond bemused
For their cloud-based applications could no longer be used!
“Why can’t I upload this photo?!” cried a disbelieving girl
Tablets were thrown, frustration unfurled.
For a world without Cloud is a world disconnected
And with high reliability, its disappearance unexpected.
…
And what happened then? Well...in Devtown they say,
That the Grinch's small brain grew three sizes that day!
And at that moment his server closet no longer felt right,
He reverted his changelists at the speed of light,
And he brought back the workloads! And the mobile SDKs!
And he, The GRINCH HIMSELF! Deployed a cloud-based app that day.
